History

Historical Context

Anthony Scaramucci’s appointment as White House communications director on July 21 2017 and dismissal on July 31 2017—an 11-day tenure tied for the shortest in history—came amid internal clashes with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and new chief John F. Kelly. The role, a presidential appointment without Senate confirmation, has historically seen rapid turnover, exemplified by Reagan-era director Jack Koehler, highlighting the Trump administration’s volatile press strategy.
