SEC Fines Kentucky

SEC fined Kentucky $500,000 after fans stormed the field following an overtime win.
The penalty follows the 2025 SEC “access to competition area” rule that bans spectators from the field.
Under the rule, conference-game fines go to the opponent, so LSU receives the money.
The conference announced the fine on October 12, 2026, one day after the Kentucky-LSU matchup.

History

Historical Context

Since the NCAA introduced the Kansas-Playoff overtime system in 1996 to eliminate ties, the SEC has championed its use, most recently enforcing the 2025 access-to-competition rule. On Oct. 10, 2026, Kentucky beat LSU 35-34 in overtime, coach Will Stein opting for a two-point conversion; the SEC fined Kentucky $500,000 to deter similar invasions.
