History

Historical Context

The 1989 Menendez murders, where Lyle and Erik killed their parents and were sentenced to life without parole, drew massive media attention and revealed $700,000 in post-murder spending that set a benchmark for intrafamilial homicide. Rose Harrison’s alleged Oct 12 2026 Great Wolf Lodge killings echo that pattern, prompting the FBI and the National Center for Victims of Crime to seek stricter domestic-homicide policies.
