History

Historical Context

In November 1995 the New York Yankees hired Joe Torre on a three-year, $13 million contract, the longest managerial deal of the Steinbrenner era. Torre’s 12-season tenure produced twelve straight postseason trips and four World Series titles, establishing a model of long-term stability that later clubs emulated in their front-office agreements.
