History

Historical Context

On 20 July 1974 Turkey invaded Cyprus after a Greek-backed coup, capturing about 37% of the island and displacing roughly 150,000 Greek Cypriots. The partition forced Greece to prioritize regional security, a stance that endures today as Greece and Cyprus launch an Israel Allies Caucus co-chaired by Konstantinos Tsiaras and Harris Theoharis and distribute 3.64 million flu doses, reflecting a continued collective-defence and health strategy.
