History

Historical Context

In 2026 Pakistan intercepted 23 suicide drones from Afghanistan and the Houthi raid on Riyadh mirrored a pattern that started after the Saudi-led Yemen intervention in 2015. The pattern intensified with the September 2019 swarm of drones and missiles that hit the Abqaiq and Khurais plants, cutting roughly 5 % of world oil output. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have tightened defense pacts and issued travel warnings.
