History

Historical Context

On November 9 1971 John List murdered his wife, mother, and three children in Westfield, New Jersey, citing financial collapse and religious motives. After a 17-year flight, a 1989 broadcast of America’s Most Wanted featuring an age-progressed bust led to his June 1 arrest. The case exemplifies how severe monetary strain can precipitate extreme domestic violence.
