History

Historical Context

The 2008 Mumbai attacks—ten Lashkar-e-Taiba gunmen stormed hotels, a railway station and other sites from 26 Nov to 29 Nov, killing 166 civilians and wounding more than 300—prompted the formation of the anti-terror force Force One and tighter city-wide surveillance. That legacy drives today’s push to harden security at Ulhasnagar station after the fatal shooting of Harish Gajwani.
