History

Historical Context

In January 2007 Netflix launched streaming with about 1,000 titles, while Hollywood studios began licensing second-run movies to the new service. The shift prompted studios to negotiate release timing with digital platforms. Today Indian chains PVR INOX and Cinepolis invoke that timing in refusing the Hindi dub of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, as Sun Pictures shifts the film to Amazon Prime Video.
