Historical Context

JetBlue announced its Mint premium cabin in September 2013 and began service on June 15 2014, using Airbus A321s with 16 lie-flat seats on New York-Los Angeles and New York-San Francisco routes. The cabin’s success prompted the airline to plan the 2026 BlueFirst product on Boston–Fort Lauderdale, offering a two-by-two layout and similar fare range. Legacy carriers have since expanded comparable business-class offerings.
