History

Historical Context

Chris Bosh’s February 21 2015 diagnosis of a pulmonary blood clot forced him out of the Miami Heat’s season and later led the NBA to label the condition a career-ending illness in 2017. That high-profile case heightened league-wide medical vigilance, so when Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a migrating clot in 2024, NFL teams responded with aggressive treatment protocols similar to those used after Bosh’s injury.
