History

Historical Context

The 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, held July 18-21, 2016, secured Donald Trump’s presidential nomination and sparked nationwide rally tours. The RNC deployed 150 Secret Service agents and the Federal Election Commission recorded $1.5 billion in campaign contributions that cycle. Today’s multi-state Trump rallies in South Carolina, Montana, Georgia, and Oklahoma echo that 2016 tour strategy, mobilizing local party officials and law-enforcement coalitions. The precedent of extensive security and coordinated logistics suggests future campaigns will continue leveraging federal resources to protect high-profile candidates.
