History

Historical Context

On April 20 1999, Columbine seniors Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 students and a teacher, firing 188 rounds. The massacre spurred nationwide security upgrades, zero-tolerance policies, and the “Columbine effect” of over 70 copycat shootings, a pattern echoed in later tragedies such as Sandy Hook (2012) and Parkland (2018), keeping school-gun debates alive.
