Denver entered the game without cornerback Patrick Surtain II and safety Talanoa Hufanga due to ankle injuries.
Wil Lutz recorded his 22nd career game-winning field goal, the most by any undrafted player since 2016.
Denver’s defense logged its 20th straight home game with multiple sacks, the longest active NFL streak.
Head coach Sean Payton called the defense “magnificent” but warned the 4-2 record could slip to 2-4.

History

Historical Context

The Broncos capped the 1998 season with a 34-19 victory in Super Bowl XXXIII on Jan 31 1999, securing back-to-back titles and cementing a reputation for strong defense. After John Elway retired that May, Denver’s defense remained a franchise hallmark, evident in 2024’s continued sack streak, while Seattle’s quarterback turnover, highlighted by Sam Darnold’s seven interceptions, echoes the instability teams face when lacking a steady leader.
