New Plus Consoles Unveiled
Analogue announced refreshed versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro hardware, branded Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus. Both devices retain the original form factor introduced in 2017-2018 but add a “reworked industrial design” and built-in wireless connectivity for modern controllers.
Design and Connectivity Upgrades
The Plus models incorporate a low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless receiver compatible with several 8BitDo controllers and arcade sticks, as well as Bluetooth support. Each console includes a USB-C port for power and a USB-A port for additional peripherals such as DACs or headphones. Analogue notes that the consoles can be powered via standard USB cables, allowing users to power them with existing phone chargers. The redesign also enables hot-swapping of game cartridges without a full power-down.
Technical Specs and Compatibility
Both consoles run an Altera Cyclone V field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip that recreates the original 16-bit hardware logic, eliminating the need for software emulation. Analogue claims 100 % support for the full library of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis titles, covering both PAL and NTSC releases. Video output is upscaled to 1080p while preserving the classic 8:7 aspect ratio with black bars on widescreen displays. Users can adjust audio levels, resolution, and screen size through a built-in menu.
Pricing and Availability
Pre-orders for the Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus open on October 19 at 9 AM PT/11 AM ET. Analogue lists the price as $219.99 per unit, while another outlet reports a round-up to $220. Shipping is slated to begin sometime in December of the same year.
Conflicting Reports & Gaps
The primary discrepancy in the coverage concerns the exact retail price: one source specifies $219.99, whereas another cites $220. No further details on limited-edition colorways or additional accessories have been confirmed beyond the stated hardware features.
