History

Historical Context

The 1967 Six-Day War, fought in June 1967, resulted in Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. After the war, Israel authorized over 150 settlement blocs, and by 1995 Prime Minister Ariel Sharon oversaw 300,000 settlers in Area C, per United Nations. Today, masked Israeli settlers in Abu Falah repeat that pattern, attacking Palestinian olive harvesters under restrictions imposed by Israel’s military administration. Such confrontations reinforce the United Nations’ 2002 resolution calling for an end to settlement expansion, shaping future diplomatic negotiations.
