Core Event

Berkshire Hathaway’s Class A and Class B shares closed Friday at $798,000 and $532.02 respectively, each just 1.4 % below their all-time highs of $809,350 and $539.80. The rally marks the highest closing level since Warren Buffett announced at the May 2025 annual meeting that he would step down as CEO at year-end.

Bending Spoons Investment Details

Berkshire first invested roughly $600 million in the Italian tech firm at its IPO in early July 2026, buying an estimated 20.7 million shares at $29 each. A subsequent private placement added $330 million for 10 million newly issued shares at $33 each, a near-12 % discount to the $37.86 closing price the day before. Combined, Berkshire now holds about 30.7 million shares, representing roughly a 4-5 % stake and a total value exceeding $1.4 billion at the latest close—a gain of about 55 % on the $930 million cumulative outlay.

Market Impact and Valuation

Bending Spoons’ stock surged to an intraday high of $58.56, closing at $53.46, a 41 % jump on the day of the private-placement announcement. Over three trading days the share price rose 24.3 %, delivering a paper profit of roughly $141 million for Berkshire based on its $33 purchase price. The tech company’s rapid appreciation has contributed to Berkshire’s overall performance, helping the conglomerate stay only 6.0 percentage points behind the benchmark for the year.
