New Production Line for the Anka-3 UCAV
A Turkish Aerospace official confirmed that construction of a second production line for the Anka-3 unmanned combat aerial vehicle has been completed and is slated to open in November. The facility, located in Ankara, will begin rolling out the first aircraft “soon,” after which the unit will proceed to flight testing. The expansion is intended to increase manufacturing capacity for the platform that the Turkish armed forces have ordered.
Upgraded Variant Increases Payload Capacity
The new line will produce an upgraded Anka-3 variant featuring a larger airframe. According to the company official, the payload capacity will rise to 1.75 tons, up from the original platform’s approximately 1.3 tons. The higher payload is described as enabling the drone to carry additional munitions to satisfy new national requirements. Performance specifications remain unchanged: the UCAV can reach high-subsonic speeds and operate at altitudes of up to 40,000 feet.
Order Commitment and Delivery Timeline
The Turkish armed forces have placed an order for 80 Anka-3 units, with the first deliveries expected in 2027. The expanded production line is positioned to meet this schedule and support future procurement needs.
Demonstrated UAV Systems at Atis Serbest Exercise
During a media visit, eight medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) Anka UAVs were displayed at various stages of final assembly, alongside Aksungur multirole drones.
Ongoing Projects and International Interest
Although not on display, officials noted that the KAAN fifth-generation fighter jet’s P1 prototype is being prepared for flight testing, following the P0 maiden flight in 2024. Additionally, Spain has signed an agreement to purchase 30 HÜRJet trainer and light-attack aircraft, with CEO Mehmet Demiroglu indicating plans for an additional 15 units. The developments were reported on October 16, 2026.
