History

Historical Context

The 2015 Mayweather-Pacquiao bout at the MGM Grand shattered PPV records, drawing 4.6 million U.S. households and generating about $400 million, cementing Las Vegas as boxing’s commercial hub. That precedent frames Sebastian Fundora’s WBC super-welterweight defense at The Cosmopolitan, where elite fighters again rely on high-profile Vegas events to boost market value and pressure sanctioning bodies for future unifications.
