History

Historical Context

Sir Alex Ferguson took charge of Manchester United in 1986, rescued his job with the 1990 FA Cup win, and built a squad that captured the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in 1998-99 – the first English treble. That triumph set a benchmark of star-laden teams, a legacy echoed in today’s midfield-focused rebuild and internal debates.
