History

Historical Context

Under third-year head coach Mike Bellotti, the 1997 Ducks finished 7-5 and won the Las Vegas Bowl, ending a stretch of mediocrity and laying groundwork for the early-2000s surge that produced Joey Harrington’s 2001 Pac-10 championship, the program’s first conference title. Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola’s recent comeback revives that late-1990s turnaround spirit.
