History

Historical Context

Boston’s 1970 Stanley Cup sweep of the St. Louis Blues, driven by Phil Esposito’s league-record 76 goals and a league-best 57 wins, forged a culture of offensive dominance and high expectations. That legacy pressures today’s Bruins, where David Pastrnak has matched Esposito’s third-most-goal season and coach Marco Sturm enforces the same accountability that defined the 1970 championship era.
