History

Historical Context

In 2004, the Boston Red Sox shattered the 86-year “Curse of the Bambino” by winning the World Series after a historic ALCS comeback. That series featured the Yankees, the Red Sox, and a decisive Game 7 where pitcher Curt Schilling recorded 10 strikeouts, a 4-2 victory. Similarly, the 2024 AL Championship has the Tampa Bay Rays beating the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 in Game 5, mirroring a series shift toward the World Series. The Rays’ advance revives postseason momentum, suggesting another franchise could break long droughts like the Red Sox, reshaping future MLB power balances.
