Registration deadline and eligibility
IIT Kharagpur announced that the online registration window for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027 will close on October 19, 2026. Candidates who have already completed an undergraduate degree—or who will appear for their final undergraduate examinations in 2027—must submit their applications by that date to be considered for the February exam. The deadline applies to all applicants, and no further forms will be accepted after the window closes.

3. Receive a unique enrolment ID and password.
4. Log in with the credentials.
5. Enter personal and academic details.
6. Upload documents in the prescribed format.

Exam schedule, sessions and subjects
The exam is scheduled for February 14, 2027 and will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode across roughly 114 Indian cities. Two sessions are planned:
*Forenoon (9:30 am – 12:30 pm)* – Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematics (MA)
*Afternoon (2:30 pm – 5:30 pm)* – Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH)
Candidates may select one paper, or two papers provided they belong to different sessions.
Postgraduate programmes linked to JAM scores
According to the exam schedule, JAM scores will be used for admission to 89 postgraduate programmes offered by 23 IITs for the 2027-28 academic year. Eligible programmes include M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech.), M.S. (Research), M.Sc.–M.Tech. dual degrees, Joint M.Sc.–Ph.D. dual degrees, and Integrated Ph.D. courses.
Upcoming timeline
A tentative correction window is expected to open on November 1, 2026, allowing applicants to amend submitted details for an additional fee. The final exam will take place on February 14, 2027, with results later used for admissions to the listed postgraduate courses. No international test centres are planned for this cycle.
