History

Historical Context

In 1985, coach Mike Ditka led the Chicago Bears to a 15-1 record, the league’s best, and back-to-back playoff shutouts. Their “46 defense” allowed just 198 points, forced 54 turnovers, and finished with a 46-10 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX on Jan 26 1986. That dominant season remains the benchmark the 2024 Bears invoke while pursuing NFC North supremacy.
