History

Historical Context

In 1972, the Miami Dolphins completed a perfect 14-0 regular season, culminating in a Super Bowl VII victory under coach Don Shula. Shula’s roster featured Larry Csonka’s 1,117 rushing yards, while the NFL recorded a league-wide average attendance of 57,000 fans per game. The 2024 Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes’s 100th win, dominate the league as the Chargers, coached by Jim Harbaugh, struggle at 0-6. Thus, the Chiefs’ early-season surge echoes historic dominance, suggesting a potential playoff run while the Chargers face urgent offensive overhaul.
