The Houston Texans activated wide receiver Tank Dell for the Week 7 game against the New York Giants.
Dell missed the 2025 season after a December 2024 knee injury that tore four ligaments and dislocated his kneecap.
Coach DeMeco Ryans said he expects Dell to be himself with no huge expectations.
Dell now joins receivers Nico Collins, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson and Kayshon Boutte.

Summary

Harbaugh Holds Starter Decision

J.J. McCarthy threw 243 yards in 11 minutes, the most 4th-quarter yards by a non-starter in 25 years.
Harbaugh has not announced a Week 7 starter, saying the decision will be made before the game.
Giants acquired McCarthy from the Vikings in late September, adding a mobile quarterback option.
Giants' run game logged only 14 carries for 34 yards last week, influencing quarterback considerations.

History

Historical Context

In 1999 the Giants reinstated Kerry Collins after he missed 1998, and coach Jim Fassel moved him from backup to starter; Collins threw for 3,610 yards, fueling a late rally that led to the 2000 playoff run. The 2025 Texans’ activation of receiver Tank Dell shows how teams still rely on mid-season injury returns to affect postseason odds.
