History

Historical Context

Florida’s 2024 comeback win over Texas, sparked by backup quarterback Tramell Jones Jr.’s 155 yards and two touchdowns, echoes the program’s rise under Steve Spurrier, whose 1995 team posted a 12-0 regular season and won the SEC Championship 34-3 before finishing No. 2 in the AP poll. The Gators’ current AP Top 25 return and men’s basketball preseason No. 1 ranking revive the dual-sport prominence that defined the mid-1990s.
