History

Historical Context

The 7 July 2005 coordinated suicide bombings in London killed 52 people and injured nearly 800, prompting the Metropolitan Police and Specialist Firearms Command to deploy over 1,000 officers and reshape national emergency protocols. Those procedures guided Greater Manchester Police’s October 19 2026 hazmat-tactical response, led by Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards, to swiftly cordon and preserve evidence at the Crondall Street murder scene.
