Summary

Shanahan Warns Target

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Evans’ Achilles tendinitis kept him out, forcing the 49ers to rely on other receivers.
George Kittle noted the offense went three-and-out three times because Evans was unavailable.
Shanahan warned Brock Purdy may need a new top target if Evans misses next week’s game in Atlanta.
The 49ers improved to 6-0 despite the offense flatlining after Evans left the game.

History

Historical Context

In 2010, veteran Washington wideout Santana Moss missed the entire season after a sports-hernia placed him on injured reserve. The 2024 injuries to Washington’s Terry McLaurin and San Francisco’s Deebo Samuel have forced coaches Dan Quinn and Kyle Shanahan to reshuffle their receiver groups, echoing past depth concerns; Moss once posted 84 receptions for 1,483 yards in 2005.
