History

Historical Context

In April 1984 the Glasgow Ice Cream Wars peaked when masked gang members torched a van, killing six members of the Doyle family. Rival Italian-Scottish gangs used the vans to traffic heroin, a pattern described by crime figure Paul Ferris. The episode later inspired the 1984 film Comfort and Joy, which dramatized the turf conflict.
