History

Historical Context

In 1992 Pakistan won its first Cricket World Cup, beating England by 22 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the tournament’s first day-night and only Wednesday final. Captain Imran Khan’s 72 and Wasim Akram’s 3-16 set a then-record 249/6 before 87,182 spectators. That comeback spirit underpins today’s Rawalpindi victory, echoing the 1992 all-round impact.
