History

Historical Context

South Africa’s 1998 WACA victory, their first Test win on Australian soil after a 30-year drought, built on the historic 1993-94 tour – the nation’s first return to Australia since apartheid ended, which already produced a five-run win at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The 1998 425-9 total and Allan Donald’s four wickets echo that early breakthrough.
