History

Historical Context

After the 1994–95 strike, MLB’s 1995 collective-bargaining agreement introduced new postseason roster limits that still shape player rewards. The league began a 144-game schedule on April 25, 1995 and added Division Series play. Consequently, pitcher Jake Woodford, who was not on the active postseason roster, will still receive a World Series ring.
