History

Historical Context

In 1999 the injury-hit Dallas Cowboys, coached by Chan Gailey, finished 8-8 after adding veteran running back Chris Warren to the practice squad. The season followed a 10-6 NFC East title in 1998 and led to Gailey’s dismissal. The move helped the team reach 1,500 rushing yards and earned a wild-card spot, a strategy the injury-plagued Philadelphia Eagles hope to repeat.
