History

Historical Context

In 1992 Karnataka and Tamil Nadu created a joint Special Task Force, led by Sanjay Arora and Shankar Bidari, and announced a 5-crore bounty to capture forest brigand Veerappan, whose cross-border raids prompted repeated inter-state operations through the 1990s. The same pattern of high bounties and task-force reshuffles reappears today as Nagpur police raise rewards after influencer Shraddha Dubey fled to Nepal.
