History

Historical Context

CNN’s live 24-hour reporting of the 1991 Gulf War, built on a ten-year round-the-clock operation, proved the power of satellite journalism and spurred Arab states to launch networks such as MBC. Decades later, the 2027 exit of chief correspondent Christiane Amanpour follows a recent corporate transition, echoing earlier shifts that reshaped the news landscape.
