History

Historical Context

In 2004, the Boston Red Sox overturned a 0-3 deficit to defeat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, becoming the first MLB team to win four straight elimination games. The Red Sox, guided by manager Terry Francona, tallied 27 runs while the Yankees produced only 12, a 2.25-run per-game advantage. Today, the 2024 Yankees, overseen by Hal Steinbrenner, castigated players such as Aaron Judge after a .130/.192/.239 offense was swept by the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2004 turnaround warns that public blame may overlook injury setbacks, urging New York to prioritize health protocols and depth before future postseason battles.
