History

Historical Context

In 2016, Donald Trump’s unexpected presidential win followed a string of high-attendance rallies in swing states, notably a North Carolina stop at Charlotte. That rally drew roughly 12,000 supporters, according to the Republican National Committee, and contributed to Trump securing 50.4% of the state’s popular vote. Similarly, the October 20, 2026 Pitt-Greenville Airport gathering, organized with shuttle buses from Calvary Baptist Church, aims to mobilize North Carolina voters ahead of the midterm contest. Analysts expect this pattern to reinforce the Republican Party’s early-voting outreach, potentially shaping congressional control for the next two years.
