Background & Context
CA Intermediate is the second tier of the Chartered Accountancy programme (Foundation -> Intermediate -> Final). Exams are held in January, May and September; each session has two groups of three papers (six papers total). A candidate needs >=40 % in each paper and >=50 % aggregate (150 marks) in a group to pass.
The September 2026 session was conducted offline from September 1-12, 2026.

Official Statements & Responses
The Examination Department confirmed result availability on October 22, 2026 via caresults.icai.org and advised candidates to keep their scorecards.
A notice on October 21, 2026 announced mock-test series for the CA Foundation January 2027 session: Series 1 starts December 1, 2026 and Series 2 on December 14, 2026.
Candidates clearing either group may register for the CA Final through the ICAI Self-Service Portal; those with an unpassed group must re-appear in the next cycle (January 2027).
Why It Matters
Pass rates improved from May 2026 (10.25 %, 16.11 %, 8.47 % for Group I, Group II and both groups). Higher pass percentages increase the pool of candidates eligible for the CA Final stage, affecting the supply of chartered accountants in India’s financial sector.
What’s Next
- Mock-test series for CA Foundation begin December 1 and December 14, 2026.
- The next CA Intermediate window opens in January 2027; non-passers must register for that session.
- ICAI has not confirmed the CA Foundation September 2026 result date; media suggest a possible release between October 23-26, 2026.
Candidates should monitor the ICAI website and retain their September 2026 scorecards for future eligibility.
