History

Historical Context

The CCP’s 1934-35 Long March saw roughly 86,000 Red Army soldiers trek 9,000 km, leaving only about 8,000 survivors and cementing Mao Zedong’s leadership. Mao’s victory became a lasting symbol of resilience, which President Xi Jinping today invokes while striking a Belt and Road partnership with Saudi King Salman, linking historic perseverance to modern geopolitical outreach.
