Summary

Afghan Women United Nominate

Afghan Women United may receive the FIFA Peace Prize as Afghanistan’s official representatives while in exile.
The team is composed of refugee players who fled Taliban rule after the 2021 Kabul takeover.
In June, they played two friendlies against the Cook Islands in New Zealand, losing both.
Their on-field presence acts as a high-profile protest against the Taliban’s renewed oppression of women.
