History

Historical Context

In 2008, the Steelers posted a 12-4 record, led a defense that allowed just 17.5 points per game and won Super Bowl XLIII despite five starters missing games. Coach Mike Tomlin’s reliance on backups then set a template that the 2024 squad, now missing several skill players, is echoing. The 2008 precedent shows depth can keep playoff hopes alive.
