History

Historical Context

Poland’s 12 March 1999 accession to NATO marked the first post-Cold-War east-ward expansion, linking its forces to collective defence and later to EU security programmes after its 1 May 2004 EU entry. The modernisation it spurred paved the way for today’s India-Poland Defence Industry Dialogue, aiming joint space, nuclear and counter-terrorism projects. NATO now comprises 32 members.
