iOS 27 Adds “Call Context” to the Phone App
By Drooid · · How we work
Core Feature Overview
iOS 27 introduces Call Context, an Apple Intelligence-driven addition to the Phone app that automatically displays pertinent information on the call screen when a user dials a business. The feature pulls data from other apps—such as a confirmation code from Mail or reservation details from a travel app—and presents it alongside the call interface, allowing users to reference or share the information without leaving the conversation.
Background and Recent Enhancements
The new capability builds on Apple’s recent focus on AI-assisted phone functions. In iOS 26, the Phone app received Call Screening, which lets users filter unwanted calls, and Hold Assist, which provides entertainment while on hold. Call Context extends this trajectory by using on-device intelligence to surface contextual data proactively.
Official Description from Apple
The rollout is limited to English language users and to iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch models that support Apple Intelligence. No other languages or device families are included at launch.
User Experience Highlights
A reviewer who tested the feature noted that, after booking flights with Southwest Airlines, the flight itinerary appeared automatically when the airline’s number was dialed. The iPhone also offered to read the confirmation number aloud during the call. When multiple reservations existed, the interface displayed the most relevant flight first, with additional flights accessible via a quick tap. The reviewer characterized the addition as a “no-brainer” that is likely to become popular among users who frequently contact businesses.
Availability and Limitations
Call Context is currently available only on devices that meet Apple Intelligence hardware requirements and operates solely in English. Users of older hardware or non-English locales will not see the feature until Apple expands support.
