History

Historical Context

After the UPA government declared the CPI (Maoist) a terrorist group in late 2009, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh approved a large-scale anti-Naxal offensive, moving about 80,000 central paramilitary troops and ten armed helicopters into the Red Corridor. The media labeled it “Operation Green Hunt.” Today Amit Shah’s security remarks echo that same internal-security focus.
