History

Historical Context

In 1999, Australia, captained by John Eales, won the Rugby World Cup 35-12 over France, becoming the first nation to win twice and the first to triumph after qualifying. The victory came in the sport’s new professional era and after the tournament expanded to 20 teams. Les Kiss now taps Teddy Wilson and debutant Tom Lambert for the 2024 Six Nations, aiming to revive that legacy.
