Tremaine Edmunds will miss the rest of the 2026 season because of a shoulder injury.
He led the New York Giants with 50 tackles, tying for the NFL’s 10th-most.
The Giants have lost four starters, including quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Brian Burns, to season-ending injuries.
Micah McFadden will replace Edmunds at inside linebacker, joining rookie Arvell Reese.
Coach John Harbaugh said the team still has three starting-caliber inside linebackers.

Summary

Giants Begin Stretch

The Giants start a four-game stretch vs Eagles, Commanders, Jaguars and Colts after their bye.
Their bye falls on Halloween, giving a rare holiday break.
Only three of those games are winnable if New York stays healthy.
Greg Newsome II (concussion), Theo Johnson (neck), Jalen Pitre (shoulder) and David Montgomery (groin) are out.
Tank Dell (knee) is questionable but expected to debut against Houston.

History

Historical Context

In 2008 the Giants, coached by Tom Coughlin, posted a 12-4 record and secured the NFC’s top seed, but injuries to starters such as Eli Manning and Osi Umenyiora helped derail a playoff run. The 2026 squad faces a similar crisis, with Tremaine Edmunds, Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns sidelined, forcing reliance on depth players.
