History

Historical Context

In 2008 Mumbai Indians, coached by Lalchand Rajput and led by icon Sachin Tendulkar, missed the playoffs before assembling a record five IPL titles by 2020. After a six-year title drought and Kieron Pollard’s shift to batting coach in 2022, the franchise announced in 2027 that the former all-rounder will replace Mahela Jayawardene as head coach, aiming to restore championship form.
