History

Historical Context

The 1997 India-U.S. extradition treaty created a legal channel for surrendering fugitives. Since then the United States has handed over dozens of suspects, including the 2025 transfer of terrorist Tahawwur Hussain Rana. That framework, under the same treaty provisions, enabled today’s joint FBI-Interpol and Indian police raid in Las Vegas that captured gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria.
